Brooklyn had a cough and fever when we returned from our Christmas vacation last week.  The morning after we got home, I took her to Dr. McCormick.  She needed oxygen, and Dr. wanted to start her on Rocefen (sp?), an anitibiotic given by shot or IV.  2 days later, she was doing well, and Dr. released us to take her home with oxygen.  She did well that evening, but by the next morning was having fevers again.  The next morning, which was this past Monday, January 16th, I brought her back down to Dr. McCormick.  Her white cell count was back up, meaning the infection was back at it, so Dr. readmitted her.  Clinically, she seems to be doing better.  Her cough and congestion is much better, her white cell count is back to normal again, and she seems to feel better all around.   The problem is that she continues to have fevers.  Obviously, there is still something going on in her little body that we haven’t diagnosed or treated.  Dr. McCormick performed a number of tests, including a CT scan and a spinal tap, none of which showed a definitive answer.   On Friday, January 20th, she had Brooklyn transported to Denver Children’s Hospital.  She felt at a loss for what to do next.

We have so many incredible friends and family members that have been asking about Brooklyn, and wanted to be updated with her status.  That’s why I decided to create this little blog, so that you can journey through this with us.  We are just blown away with the amazing support we’ve been shown.  You all are the BEST!

Actually, the main reason I wanted this blog was so that you could help us pray.  We feel in great need of God’s mercy and grace and His healing on our precious little girl.   Thanks–more than we could ever say–for the gift of prayer.  We believe in the POWER of an Almighty God, and He has not forgotten us…He is here, He is real, He is working!!

Love to all of you,

Erv, Jenny, Courtney and Brooklyn

  2. Hello! I am reading your book right now. It is so interesting – you are an amazing writer! I was/am blessed by your ability to put your feelings “on paper”!! God bless you all with grace and wisdom as you walk this path He has chosen for y’all and as you allow Him to manifest His love, power, and provision for His children through you all! Prayers on your behalf, Lavonne Miller (Just for a bit of a connection, I live in the same area as Polly Showalter and go to the same church as Jennifer Knicely- a new girl @ NH)
